The article reports on a donation to the ambulatory children’s hospice Sternenzelt Mainfranken shortly before Christmas. In conversation with the hospice team, the Palliativ-Portal learned about the special tasks involved in accompanying seriously ill and dying children and their families.
The burden on siblings — sometimes called “shadow children” or “shadow siblings” — is highlighted as a central concern. Sternenzelt Mainfranken accompanies ten families in a radius of about 40 kilometres and supports parents and siblings through weekends, breakfasts, experience days and other activities.
From the sale of the children’s book Max, sein Opa und Columba and Columba dove cushions, the Palliativ-Portal donated 500 euros to support this valuable work.
